This trick is for XP and later.
1. Click Start, and click RUN.

2. Type in the box as "msconfig".

3. Click OK and allow if user Account Control Prompts.
4. Click Startup Tab.

5. Uncheck the items you don't want to start up.

6. Be sure not to disable something important.
7. Click OK
8. Restart.
And you are done.
